His speech persuaded them. The apostles left the Sanhedrin, rejoicing because they had been counted worthy of suffering disgrace for the Name. Day after day, in the temple courts and from house to house, they never stopped teaching and proclaiming the good news that Jesus is the Messiah. Acts 5 (selected)

PRAY GIVE & GO
SCRIPTURE
“In the present case I advise you: Leave these men alone! Let them go! For if their purpose or activity is of human origin, it will fail. But if it is from God, you will not be able to stop these men. You will only find yourselves fighting against God.”

OUR VIEW OF MISSIONS
The dedication of the first disciples was driven by Jesus’ final command:
“But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit comes on you. And you will be My witnesses in Jerusalem, and in all Judea and Samaria, and to the ends of the earth.” Acts 1:8-9
Christian Life engages in local missions (Jerusalem).
Christian Life engages in regional missions (Judea & Samaria).
Christian Life engages in global missions (Ends of the Earth).
OUR APPROACH TO MISSIONS
Pray
Some things happen when we pray that do not happen if we do not pray.
Praying supplies missionaries with protection.
Praying supplies missionaries with provisions.
Praying supplies missionaries with open pathways.
“Lord, you made blind eyes see. Now make seeing eyes blind.” Brother Andrew
Praying supplies missionaries with power.
Give
“The Spirit of the Lord is upon Me, because He has anointed Me to proclaim the good news to the poor. He has sent Me to proclaim liberty to the captives and recovering of sight to the blind, to set at liberty those who are oppressed, to proclaim the year of the Lord’s favor.” Luke 4:18-19
Giving to missions meets spiritual needs.
Christ Jesus came into the world to save sinners. 1 Timothy 1:15
“I must preach the Good News… that is why I was sent.” Luke 4:43
The Son of God came to destroy the works of the devil. 1 John 3:8
Giving to missions meets physical needs.
“You are the light of the world. Let your light shine before others, that they may see your good deeds and glorify your Father in heaven.” Matthew 5:14-16
“’I needed clothes and you clothed Me, I was sick and you looked after Me, I was in prison and you came to visit Me.’ Then the righteous will answer Him, ‘Lord, when…?’ The King will reply, ‘Truly, I tell you, whatever you did for one of the least of these brothers and sisters of mine, you did for Me.’” Matthew 25:36-40
Go
Going on short-term mission trips is good for others.
(We are) created in Christ Jesus for good works. Ephesians 2:10
Going on short-term mission trips is good for us.
Putting feet on foreign soil shifts something in the soul. True conditions are clearer.
