Checking Out Your Attitude Toward Those Who Come Into Our Church
James 2:1-4
Pastor Gus Gill

1. The command to not have an attitude of personal favoritism.

A. The Lord of Glory.

B. Your behavior indicates what you really believe about God. 1 John 4:20-21

C. The choice of Jesus to come into the world, poor and unattractive. Isaiah 53:1-3

1. Jesus himself came from a poor family. Luke 2:22-24; Leviticus 12:6-8

D. God hates those who devise wicked plans. Proverbs 6:16-19

2. The Lord wants His children to treat others with an attitude of value and acceptance.

A. To accept people right where they are at.

B. We are prone to judge people by their past rather than by their future.

Application

1. Treat people as you would want them to treat you. Matthew 7:12

2. Be a person who sympathizes with others. Hebrews 4:14-16

3. Accept people as Christ accepts them. (God uses the most unlikely people.)

Family Promise Meal - November 10

On Monday, November 10th, Hillside will be preparing and serving another dinner to families experiencing homelessness and sheltering with Family Promise. If you are interested in contributing part of the meal, please contact Jennifer Wilson at jjwilson1to6@msn.com.

Missional Morning - November 16

Come join us on Sunday, November 16 at 8:15am behind the barn doors as we hear from Luke about the latest in Northern Uganda. Coffee and refreshments will be provided. Contact Donevon or Elena if you have questions. See you there!

Men's Gathering - November 20

Men, join us for an evening of fellowship at Barrels and Bottles at Camp George West on Thursday, November 20 at 6:00pm. These gatherings provide a great opportunity for men to connect, grow in friendship, and encourage each other in our walks with the Lord. Looking forward to catching up!

Operation Christmas Child

The Operation Christmas Child box collection is just around the corner. Be sure to grab a box or two in the lobby and fill 'em up!

You can also help with the collection effort! Hillside will be the drop-off location for Golden and the surrounding area. The collection week is November 17-24.

MINISTRY CONNECTION POINTS

Women's Ministry
Women's Ministry is encouraging the women of the church to read the Bible, just a chapter a day, and join the TableTop gathering for discussion the last Tuesday of each month at 7:00pm.

The women's Saturday morning Bible study meets every other week at 9:00am at the church. For more information about the group, contact Andrea Flack or Jane Banzhaf.

Men's Ministry
Men’s Ministry is starting back up for the fall with the resumption of the monthly men’s gatherings on the third Thursday of every month. These gatherings provide great opportunities to grow in our relationships as men encourage each other in our walks with the Lord.

Also, the Men’s Ministry is kicking off a men's prayer morning. We’ll be meeting on the second and fourth Thursday of each month at 6:00am to pray and fellowship. Coffee will be provided!

Young Adults
The Young Adults group meets at 8:45am on Sunday morning at the church. For more information about the group, contact Daniel Ayers.

Youth Group
Youth Group meets Sunday mornings during the service on all but the first Sunday of the month. The group also meets Sunday afternoons at 4:00pm. For more information about the group, contact Val Semich.

Stephen Ministry
Stephen Ministers offer one-to-one, Christ-centered, emotional and spiritual care for people in the congregation going through difficult times such as job loss, financial struggles, medical issues, or death of a loved one.

Care Team Ministry
The Care Team Ministry provides transportation for those in need in our Hillside Family.

Prayer Ministry
The Prayer Team hosts a monthly prayer night on the third Monday of the month at 7:00pm. Everyone is welcome! You can also receive prayer in person from 9:30-10:00am Sunday mornings in the cry room adjacent to the church lobby.

Meals Ministry
The Meals Ministry is a practical way to meet the needs of others in the congregation who are welcoming a new baby or experiencing challenging circumstances.

Golden MomCo (formerly MOPS)
MomCo meets on the first and third Tuesdays of each month at First Baptist Church in Golden. For more information about the group email goldenmomco@gmailcom.
