To What End? - Timothy Kendon
Priscilla and Aquila were ordinary people who lived extraordinary lives. It was not about what they achieved in life, their skill in their occupation, but their faithful and consistent ministry in every city they found themselves in. The life of Priscilla and Aquila is a great example and encouragement for us to live lives that have eternal value. Their lives are an example of living towards the end that is Jesus, and we too can choose to live in this way. We can choose to live our lives towards the end which is eternal; an end that gives us hope and purpose.

1. Our lives are seasonal
Ecclesiastes 3:1 (NIV)
There is a time for everything, and a season for every activity under the heavens.
- Our lives are made up of different seasons (school / academics / work / family / retirement, etc.), which are impermanent and subject to change.

2. Live in the season you are in
Jeremiah 29:4-7 (NIV)
This is what the LORD Almighty, the God of Israel, says to all those I carried into exile from Jerusalem to Babylon: “Build houses and settle down; plant gardens and eat what they produce. Marry and have sons and daughters; find wives for your sons and give your daughters in marriage, so that they too may have sons and daughters. Increase in number there; do not decrease. Also, seek the peace and prosperity of the city to which I have carried you into exile. Pray to the LORD for it, because if it prospers, you too will prosper.
- God brings us into new seasons of life. His desire is for us to live in that season.
- Don’t pine for the season that was before.
- Don’t exclusively look forward to the season ahead such that you do not live in the present season.
- Sow where you are for the time that you are there.

3. Church, the gathering of believers, is not seasonal
Hebrews 10:24-25 (NIV)
And let us consider how we may spur one another on to love and good deeds, not giving up meeting together, as some are in the habit of doing, but encouraging one another – and all the more as you see the Day approaching.
- To gather and be part of a local church is of great importance to us believers.
- No matter what season you find yourself in, be sure to find a local community of believers to be a part of and to contribute to.

4. To what end …?
- To what end (or to what purpose) are we choosing to live the seasons in our lives?
- Live for that which has eternal significance and value.
- Sowing into the kingdom of God is of far greater value than earthly reward, which will fade and pass away.

Remember:
The kingdom of God is worth investing and sowing into in every season of our lives.
The kingdom of God is worth investing and sowing into in every season of our lives.
