Sermon Series: Daniel
Sermon Title: Learning from the past.

Belshazzar makes a big mistake and starts to be irreverent and sacrilegious about the God of the jews and the items from the temple.
It's a reminder even for us today not to make the things of God common, but to hold God and his kingdom in high regard.

Familiarity can kill destroy reverence for God and his presence.

The King decided to party while the empire was in Danger.

Many today have the idea that the best response to the seeming danger of the times is to forget about it and escape into the pursuit of pleasure.

Belshazzar's mother has wisdom about the Writing.

This Verse Describes Daniel as having a sharp mind, prophetic abilities from God and the wisdom to solve difficult problems.
God is still looking for men and women like Daniel who will humbly and faithfully represent him in places of Great Influence.

God wants to use the church to be salt and light to the earth. The church needs to rise up and get into places of influence and bring heavens solutions to lost and broken world.

Belshazzar refused to learn from his predecessor's previous humiliation.
He knew better.
You can learn from others' mistakes or your own.

Daniel reads the interpretation to him
Tekel means ‘weighed’—you have been weighed on the balances and have not measured up.

For those of us in Christ, faith in the Gospel has balanced the scales and has made us right with God.
