The scan showed that the frontal lobe, the part of the brain that controls language, was active when he prayed in English, but for the most part felt quiet when he prayed in tongues.

Our brain imaging research shows us that these subjects are not in control of the usual language centers during this activity (when speaking in tongues).

It’s not regular language, at least what would normally activate the frontal lobe of the brain. We scientifically assume it’s being taken over by another part of the brain, but we couldn’t see where it took place.
