The End Result of Sexual Temptation
“In the end she is as bitter as poison,
as dangerous as a double-edged sword.
Her feet go down to death;
her steps lead straight to the grave.”
(Proverbs 5:4-5)

Way Out: Thinking Right
1. Value Trust
“Look,” he told her, “my master trusts me with everything in his entire household. No one here has more authority than I do. He has held back nothing from me except you, because you are his wife.” (Genesis 39:8-9a)

2. Realize that Sex Outside of Marriage is Sin
“...you are his wife. How could I do such a wicked thing? It would be a great sin against God.” (Genesis 39:9b)
“Drink water from your own well—
share your love only with your wife.
Why spill the water of your springs in the streets,
having sex with just anyone?” (Proverbs 5:15-16)
“Give honor to marriage, and remain faithful to one another in marriage. God will surely judge people who are immoral and those who commit adultery.” (Hebrews 13:4)

3. Realized that Sexual Sin is Against God.
“You say, “I am allowed to do anything”—but not everything is good for you. And even though “I am allowed to do anything,” I must not become a slave to anything.” (1 Corinthians 6:12)
“Run from sexual sin! No other sin so clearly affects the body as this one does. For sexual immorality is a sin against your own body. Don’t you realize that your body is the temple of the Holy Spirit, who lives in you and was given to you by God? You do not belong to yourself, for God bought you with a high price. So you must honor God with your body.” (1 Corinthians 6:18-20)
“It would be a great sin against God.” (Genesis 39:9b)
“Against you, and you alone, have I sinned; I have done what is evil in your sight.” (Psalm 51:4)
“Don’t you realize that your bodies are actually parts of Christ? Should a man take his body, which is part of Christ, and join it to a prostitute? Never!” (1 Corinthians 6:15)

A Way Back
“Purify me from my sins, and I will be clean;

Don’t keep looking at my sins.
Remove the stain of my guilt.
Create in me a clean heart, O God.
Renew a loyal spirit within me.”
