What does it mean to be Spiritual?
What does it mean to be Spiritual?
From Human View = feeling connected beyond self to anything
Spirituality = 2023 Pew Research found “7 in 10 U.S. adults describe themselves as spiritual in some way, including 22% who are spiritual but not religious”
From God’s View = being connected with God by Holy Spirit in Christ
“14 But people who aren’t spiritual can’t receive these truths from God’s Spirit. It all sounds foolish to them and they can’t understand it, for only those who are spiritual can understand what the Spirit means.”

What does it mean to be Spiritually Mature?
To know God’s Wisdom/secret plan revealed in Jesus
6-7 get words of wisdom/mystery/His plan
10 to us God revealed deep secrets by the Holy Spirit
11-12 God’s wonderful plan in Christ
13 we understand Scripture-Spiritual truth
15 we an evaluate/investigate truth/reality
16 we have the mind of Christ

To do/live/follow/obey God’s Wisdom with Jesus
Mt 16 and 28 “Then Jesus said to his disciples, “If any of you wants to be my follower, you must give up your own way, take up your cross, and follow me…go and make disciples of all peoples, baptizing them in the name of the Father and the Son and the Holy Spirit. Teach these new disciples to obey all the commands I have given you.”

When we don’t do what we claim to know we are infantile in our faith.
3:1-5
cannot talk to you as I would to spiritual people
as though you belonged to this world
as though you were infants in Christ
feed you with milk, not with solid food
you are still controlled by your sinful nature
jealous of one another and quarrel with each other
living like people of the world
acting just like people of the world

Student Study: Sundays @ 9am
Students in grades 5-12: join us on Sunday mornings at 9am at the church for a breakfast snack while we dig into the Gospel of Luke.
Youth Group: Sundays @ 6pm
Our high school youth group (grades 7-12) is an opportunity for students to come hear the good news of Jesus Christ and create community through games, discussion, and events. Our goal is to meet most Sunday evenings with larger events once a month. Check the schedule at https://befree.church/barrington-calendar?tag=youth-group for location (most meetings are at BeFree).
