The Weaving
My life is but a weaving
Between my God and me.
I cannot choose the colors
He weaveth steadily.
Oft’ times He weaveth sorrow;
And I in foolish pride
Forget He sees the upper
And I the underside.
Not ’til the loom is silent
And the shuttles cease to fly
Will God unroll the canvas
And reveal the reason why.
The dark threads are as needful
In the weaver’s skillful hand
As the threads of gold and silver
In the pattern He has planned
My life is but a weaving
Between my God and me.
I cannot choose the colors
He weaveth steadily.
Oft’ times He weaveth sorrow;
And I in foolish pride
Forget He sees the upper
And I the underside.
Not ’til the loom is silent
And the shuttles cease to fly
Will God unroll the canvas
And reveal the reason why.
The dark threads are as needful
In the weaver’s skillful hand
As the threads of gold and silver
In the pattern He has planned
Key Theme:
God is perfectly good in the core of His being and because of that, HE is the final standard of what is good and all that He does is good. He desires that sinful humanity experience His greatest act of goodness towards us by trusting in the death of His Son for the payment of our sin.
Key Application:
Ask the Lord to help you see His goodness in your life and to trust His character even in the midst of the difficult and hard things you are experiencing and to rest in the knowledge that He is for your good.
Key Verses:
Exodus 34:6 (KJV) – “And the Lord passed by before him, and proclaimed, The Lord, The Lord God, merciful and gracious, longsuffering, and abundant in goodness and truth,”
Key Questions:
1. Where am I tempted to define “good” by the culture’s standards or by my own standard instead of God’s Word?
2. Can I recall a time when something I thought was difficult, painful, or bad later revealed God’s goodness in my life? How did it change my perspective?
3. If God’s greatest good for believers is to conform us to the image of Christ, what area(s) of my life do I sense Him shaping right now? Am I willing for Him to work His will in my heart and life? If I’m honestly not willing, am I willing to be willing?

Give Online
Church family, we praise God for how faithfully in so many respects you give. Our church family is undeniably generous, but we still have great needs for supplication. We ask that you give joyfully, faithfully and sacrificially in response to how our great God and Savior has given to us.
