CONVERSATION STARTERS

1. Read Mark 9:2-13.

2. Seeing Jesus More Clearly – The disciples witnessed Jesus’ glory in a moment of discouragement (Mark 8:31-33). How has God revealed his presence to you in difficult seasons? How can seeing Jesus more clearly sustain you when life is hard?

3. The Cross Before the Crown – Peter wanted to build tents, thinking glory had arrived (Mark 9:5–6), but Jesus knew suffering had to come first. Share a time when you wanted to fast-track God’s plan for your life. How does embracing the reality of present struggles while holding onto the promise of future glory shape your faith?

4. Listening to Jesus – The Father’s voice instructs the disciples, “Listen to him!” (Mark 9:7). In the noise of life, how do you actively listen to Jesus? What helps you discern his guidance when facing uncertainty or hardship?

5. Hope in the Journey – The transfiguration points to both suffering and ultimate victory. How does knowing that suffering can be transformed into glory give you hope today? What practices help you stay anchored in God’s promises when life feels overwhelming?

Listen to Jesus in prayer daily.

• What of our Crucified and Risen King Jesus did you behold today? (pause)

• Where are you wanting to fast-track his plan past the cross and with a crown? Where is Jesus calling you to pick up your cross rather than walk by? (pause)

• Where do you need hope that your suffering is not in vain? How is Jesus awakening that energy to go in you today? (pause)

• How is Jesus prompting you to keep your future glory before you as you embrace his cross for you?

Lord’s Prayer

Our Father, who art in heaven,
hallowed be thy name.
Thy kingdom come,
thy will be done,
on earth as it is in heaven.
Give us this day our daily bread,
and forgive us our trespasses,
as we forgive those who trespass against us.
And lead us not into temptation,
