If you want to lose your family, fail to read the Instruction Manual.

People fail to read the instructions for a host of reasons:
- They don’t have time
- They are lazy
- It’s no use; the instructions are poorly written
- It’s common sense; how hard could it be
- We already know how (or think we know how)

When you try and figure something out, that you don’t know what it is and what it does, there’s a tendency to break that something and then dispose of that something.

1. Learn God’s Mission and how it applies to Marriage.

God is on mission to create a People (Kingdom) for Himself to reflect His glory in all spheres of life.

Marriage isn’t an end in itself; it is the launching pad of God’s mission. Marriage exists for the expansion of God’s mission throughout the world.

Working Biblical Definition of Marriage:
Marriage is a covenant relationship created by God between a man and a woman so that they can work harmoniously together to create a family that reflect God’s glory and extends His Kingdom on earth.

Do we breathe life into our spouse, or do we suck the life out of them?

- Why we work: TO IMAGE GOD
- How we work: REFLECT GOD’s Character, Attributes, and Nature
- What we do for our work: VOCATION (CALLING)
- What the aim of our work is: SHALOM

The Church is to be for Singles, what Marriage is to be for Spouses.

A Major Pushback:
Marital and Gender Roles and Responsibilities have been Culturally Constructed.

We see in other places the man’s responsibilities of PROVIDER, PROTECTOR, and PASTOR of the Marriage and Family.

Women's Responsibilities:
- Escort
- Encourager
- Enhancer
