Where to Go From Here?

1. Disqualified and Disappointed
2. Invest in what’s next
3. True worship always costs us something
Opening Questions
1. What’s something younger people do that makes you think, “Wait…what?” And what’s something from your generation that younger people simply can’t comprehend?
2. If you had to describe your summer in three words, what would they be?
1. What is one thing that stood out to you in the message or in this section of Scripture?
2. Reflecting on 1 Chronicles 22:6–8, David is disqualified from building the temple, but he quickly turns to focusing on what he can do. Does David’s attitude surprise you? Have you ever felt disqualified from something, and what was your reaction?
3. David chose to make preparations for Solomon rather than compete with him. Thinking back on Saul, how is David’s attitude different from Saul’s and how does it affect the kind of kingdom Solomon inherits?
4. David chose to make preparations for Solomon rather than compete with him. How can you adopt this mindset toward younger generations in your workplace, family, or community?
5. Read 1 Chronicles 22:14-15. David invested heavily in Solomon’s future. What are practical ways you can invest in the next generation around you?
6. Read 1 Chronicles 23:24. David refused a gift of land for the temple, saying worship must cost us something. Have you ever seen people donating things or offering worship that was their ‘leftovers’? Have you ever experienced the cost of genuine worship in your life? Share a time when worship required personal sacrifice.

7. What is one way you could invest in the next generation this week?
