Jesus’ return is not a myth, a metaphor, or a maybe.
The Certainty of His Coming

Acts 1:11 | “This same Jesus, who was taken up from you into heaven, will so come in like manner as you saw Him go into heaven.”
Jesus Christ will return physically to the earth.

God will raise the righteous and the unrighteous for judgment.

Jesus Christ will make things right and new in the world.
The second coming of Jesus is mentioned over 300 times in the New Testament. It’s not secondary teaching. It is a central teaching of the New Testament.

He will return bodily
He will return visibly
He will return gloriously

Revelation 1:7 | “Behold, He is coming with clouds, and every eye will see Him, even they who pierced Him.”
The Mystery of the Timing

Matthew 24:36 | “But of that day and hour no one knows, not even the angels of heaven, but My Father only.”
The Purpose of His Return

To judge the world.

- 2 Timothy 4:1 | “I charge you therefore before God and the Lord Jesus Christ, who will judge the living and the dead at His appearing and His kingdom”

To reward His people.

- Revelation 22:12 | “And behold, I am coming quickly, and My reward is with Me, to give to every one according to his work.”

To destroy evil.

- 1 John 3:8 | “He who sins is of the devil, for the devil has sinned from the beginning. For this purpose the Son of God was manifested, that He might destroy the works of the devil.”

To reign forever.

- Revelation 11:15 | “Then the seventh angel sounded: And there were loud voices in heaven, saying, "The kingdoms of this world have become the kingdoms of our Lord and of His Christ, and He shall reign forever and ever!"

To separate those who have believed in Him as Savior, and those who have not.
2 Thessalonians 1:7-10 | “when the Lord Jesus is revealed from heaven with His mighty angels, in flaming fire taking vengeance on those who do not know God, and on those who do not obey the gospel of our Lord Jesus Christ. These shall be punished with everlasting destruction from the presence of the Lord and from the glory of His power, when He comes, in that Day, to be glorified in His saints and to be admired among all those who believe, because our testimony among you was believed.”
Call to Be Ready

Matthew 24:44 | “Therefore you also be ready…”
We need to be ready by reading His word and applying it to our lives.

We need to be ready by sharing the good news of Jesus with those we know.

We need to be ready by living holy, sanctified lives that are pleasing to God.

We need to be ready by using our gifts and talents through the church and in our community.

We need to be ready by loving God and loving our neighbor.

We need to be ready by knowing Him as our Savior.
The right question is not: “Will He return?”

The correct question is: “Will we be ready for His return?”
What Should We Do?

Repent – If you don’t know Jesus as your person Savior then today needs to be that day.

Remain Faithful – If you know Jesus as your Savior then do not grow weary in living a life of faith looking for Him to Return.

Rejoice – Our King is coming! Evil doesn’t win. Jesus does.
