87% of Kids’ Ministry Leaders Believe Their Work Makes a Long-Term DifferenceEncouragingly, children’s ministry leaders have a hunch that their work is indeed making a long-term difference in kid’s lives (45% “definitely,” 42% “somewhat”)
A. We are called by God to raise Godly children
Deut. 6:1-2
6 These are the commands, decrees and laws the Lord your God directed me to teach you to observe in the land that you are crossing the Jordan to possess, 2 so that you, your children and their children after them may fear the Lord your God as long as you live by keeping all his decrees and commands that I give you, and so that you may enjoy long life.

Deut. 6:6-7
6 These commandments that I give you today are to be on your hearts.7 them on your children. Talk about them when you sit at home and when you walk along the road, when you lie down and when you get up.

Take Away: We must be deliberate about investing a reverence for God in our children
B. We must view children as valuable and significant
Matt. 19:13-15
13 Then people brought little children to Jesus for him to place his hands on them and pray for them. But the disciples rebuked them.
14 Jesus said, “Let the little children come to me, and do not hinder them, for the kingdom of heaven belongs to such as these.” 15 When he had placed his hands on them, he went on from there.

Every child born into this world is a one-of-a-kind divine creation, a unique person who is precious to God. He loves each of us so much that He gave the greatest, most precious gift He had—His only Son—so we could be with Him throughout eternity. God doesn’t start loving us just when we accept Him as Savior. He loved us even before we were born.

Take Away: Jesus values children and sees them as significant in the Kingdom of God so we should, also.
C. When we welcome children, we welcome Jesus
Matt. 18:1-5
At that time the disciples came to Jesus and asked, “Who, then, is the greatest in the kingdom of heaven?”
2 He called a little child to him, and placed the child among them. 3 And he said: “Truly I tell you, unless you change and become like little children, you will never enter the kingdom of heaven. 4 Therefore, whoever takes the lowly position of this child is the greatest in the kingdom of heaven. 5 And whoever welcomes one such child in my name welcomes me.

Take Away: Children are dependent upon us to teach them and lead them in the ways of God
3 Ways to Pray for our Children:
1. Pray for the children in our church family, as well as those who will come to join our church family, that they would learn to honor God with their lives
2. Pray for the parents of our children that they would embrace their sacred role in raising their children to have an awe of God
3. Pray for those who serve in our children’s ministry that they would partner with parents in influencing their children for the sake of God’s Kingdom
