Forty
Foundation text:
God’s process of preparation, purification, and power often unfolds in 40-day periods. The goal is to reveal the biblical significance of 40 days as a time of testing, transformation, and preparation, and to encourage the church to embrace seasons of 40 days as holy moments for spiritual renewal.
POINT 1: 40 Days of Cleansing: Noah and the Flood.
a. God used 40 days to cleanse the earth of wickedness. Though it seemed like it was only judgment, it was also a restart, a rebirth for humanity.
Application:

Sometimes God takes us through a “stormy” 40-day period, not to destroy us, but to cleanse us of what’s unclean and prepare us for a new beginning.
POINT 2: 40 Days of Encounter: Moses on Mount Sinai.
a. Moses encountered God for 40 days and received the Ten Commandments. It was a time of revelation and divine instruction.
Application:

God may call you into a 40-day season of consecration, pulling you away from distractions to hear His voice clearly. In these times, God imparts vision and purpose.
POINT 3: 40 Days of Strengthening: Elijah’s Journey.
a. Elijah was weary and discouraged, but God gave him supernatural strength and direction over a 40-day journey. This was a time of renewal and restoration.
Application:

God doesn’t just want to use you; He wants to revive and restore you. If you’re in burnout, your 40-day season may be about receiving strength again.
POINT 4: 40 Days of Testing: Jesus in the Wilderness.
a. Jesus’ 40-day fast wasn’t punishment; it was preparation for powerful ministry. He overcame Satan, then stepped into His calling.
Application:

Your “wilderness” may feel like a battle, but it’s really a bootcamp. If you endure the test, you will walk in greater anointing and authority.
POINT 5: 40 Days of Waiting and Power: Disciples After the Resurrection.
a. Before the church was born, Jesus spent 40 days teaching, proving, and preparing His followers for Pentecost.
Application:

Sometimes God asks us to wait. But He uses that time to equip us, because what follows will be powerful.
Conclusion:

God uses 40-day seasons to transform lives. Whether it’s:
1. Cleansing, what needs to go.
2. Revealing, what you need to hear.
3. Renewing, your tired soul.
4. Preparing you for power.
* Don’t rush the 40 days. Embrace the process. Transformation is happening.
Call to Action:

1. Is God calling you into a Connect 40-day commitment? (prayer, fasting, devotion)
2. Are you in a wilderness, a waiting room, or a place of weariness?
3. Will you trust the process and believe for the transformation?
Suffered - ability to endure.
Perfect - mature and make you whole.
Establish - bring stability to your life.
Strengthen - God will give you the ability to succeed in whatever you do for Him.
Settle - As a consequence of facing the attacks of the enemy, God will build in you a firm foundation that will make you steadfast and immovable.
