Each new name is a corruption of the Hebrew name and mocks God. However, notice the parallel with the story of the three and the Hebrew names. Each name could be an act of the story (God is my judge, God is gracious, Who is God, and God has helped).

The thing that King Nebuchadnezzar did was to set up his idol as more powerful than the God of Israel.

God is trustworthy, faithful, present with us and draws near to us in our times of need. He is the Holy God. He is the One True and Only God.
