We are in the currently going through a sermon series on the book of 1 John. Our theme for the study is "Living Confidently in the Fundamentals of Our Faith."

Today's Sermon

Sermon: The Challenge to Live Victorious Lives While Overcoming the World
Passage: 1 John 5:1-5

Introduction:

Romans 13:1-2
1. First characteristic: Believes that Jesus is the only Savior of the world.

A. A whole-hearted trust in the saving work of Jesus Christ.

B. Born of God.

C. A victory of turning to faith in God and away from the world.
2. Second characteristic: Loves God and loves His children.

A. Loves the family of God.

B. A practical love. James 2:14-17
3. Third characteristic: The proof of our love is obedience.

A. We must think differently. Romans 12: 1-2

B. God's Word is to equip us. 2 Timothy 3:16-17; Hebrews 13:20-21

C. And His commandments are not burdensome. John 14:15-17; Matthew 11:28-30
4. It begins and ends with faith.

A. An ongoing trust and reliance on Jesus.

B. Faith in the Son of God.

C. We will live victoriously while overcoming the world.

Summer 2025 Life Group Park Nights

Join us for a relaxed and enjoyable time at the park, hosted by our Life Groups! Bring a ball, frisbee, or let the kids enjoy the playground. We’ll gather several times a month throughout the summer. Everyone is welcome—whether you’re in a Life Group or not.

Wednesday evenings at 6:00pm. An RSVP to the host is helpful but not necessary.

Stephen Ministry Training - September

Do you have a heart for hurting people? If so, we'd love to have you join our Stephen Ministry team! As a Stephen Minister, you will be trained and have the opportunity to provide Christ-centered, one-to-one, emotional and spiritual care to people experiencing difficult seasons in life.

A new training cohort for Stephen Ministers is planned for the fall. If you are interested in learning more about the ministry and possibly becoming a Stephen Minister, please email shawn.bowen@hillsidecommunity.org.

Stephen Ministry
Stephen Ministers offer one-to-one, Christ-centered, emotional and spiritual care for people in the congregation going through difficult times such as job loss, financial struggles, medical issues, or death of a loved one.

Care Team Ministry
The Care Team Ministry provides transportation for those in need in our Hillside Family.

Prayer Ministry
The Prayer Team hosts a monthly prayer night at 7:00pm on the third Monday of the month. Everyone is welcome! You can also receive prayer in person from 9:30-10:00am Sunday mornings in the cry room adjacent to the church foyer.

Meals Ministry
The Meals Ministry is a practical way to meet the needs of others in the congregation who are welcoming a new baby or experiencing challenging circumstances.

Women's Ministry
Women's Ministry is encouraging the women of the church to read the Bible, just a chapter a day, and join the TableTop gathering for discussion the last Tuesday of the month at 7:00pm.

The women's Saturday morning Bible study is taking a break for the summer. For more information, contact Andrea Flack or Jane Banzhaf.

Men's Ministry
The Thursday morning men's Bible study is taking a break for the summer. For more information, contact Elliot Makuh.

Young Adults
The Young Adults group is taking a break from their Sunday morning meetings and will resume in the fall. There will still be occasional events throughout the summer. For more information, contact Daniel Ayers.

Youth Group
Youth Group meets Sunday mornings during the service on all but the first Sunday of the month. Stay tuned for announcements about special summer events.

Golden MomCo (formerly MOPS)
MomCo is taking a break for the summer and will resume in the fall. For more information about the group, email goldenmomco@gmailcom.
