Give Online

The Bible teaches us to give the first 10% of our income to the "storehouse." God says we can test Him by doing this and watching Him take care of us in return. This may sound like a stretch to you! Just take a step toward toward that goal. If you currently give nothing, start giving something. If you give something, try increasing it a step toward the 10% goal. Trust God! Give Him your first before anything else by setting up a recurring, automated donation online. You will then receive quarterly updates about how your giving is making a difference and how your donations are being used.

Bottom Line: The Church is invisible and visible, universal and local.
1. The invisible Church is made up of all true believers and can be seen by God.
2. The visible Church is made up of all professing believers and can be seen by all.
3. The universal Church is made up of all believers past, present, and future around the world.
4. The local church is made up of all believers in one place committed to each other and their shared mission.
START TALKING:

When have you been part of something that you assumed or acted as if it was only one part of what it really was? How did you experience it to be something much greater? What changed for you when you had that realization? (hint: think Rodney's example of only knowing UT for sports until beginning classes and living on the campus)
START THINKING:

Read Luke 17:20-21. If you put this passage in your own words, what would you say that Jesus is teaching here? How is this different than how most people have culturally experienced or been taught about what "church" is?

Read Acts 2:42-43. What are the elements of the visible church? How is this seen in our own city, regardless of which local church it may be? How can the visible seen across a city when local churches or simply believers in a community work together?

Read Acts 2:44-47. What evidence do you see in these verses that shows that this church - most likely the first local church to ever exist - was not only a group of believers who were part of the universal Church, but also a group of believers from a local community who were committed to each other and to a shared mission in their local community?
START SHARING:

Do you default to more easily identifying as a member of the universal Church or the local church? Why?

What is the danger of not prioritizing and valuing your role in both? What will you miss if you do not fully embrace both the universal and local church?

What does it mean for our micro church and the collection of micro churches called OneLife to be committed to each other? What is the shared mission that is unique to our calling?
START DOING:

Re-read Acts 2:42-43. From this passage, what do you identify that you need to do to be committed to each other in this micro church and our shared mission? What do you see is a step that you need to take to be committed to the people of OneLife Church and its shared mission?

What would you say to someone who says they do not need to be committed to the local, visible church because they are part of the invisible, universal church?

How does embracing these truths - summed up as church being about so much more than an event to attend or an organization to be part of - impact your own personal opportunity to be on mission and share the story of Jesus with others where you live, work, and play?
START PRAYING:

Pray that our micro church would be a full expression of the local church by being fully submitted to each other for accountability, fully committed to each other in relationship, and fully committed to a shared mission outside the walls of our microchurch. Pray that our larger expression of the local church, OneLife Church, would be made up of people fully committed to each other and our shared mission, not just a worship event to attend.

Take a Next Step!

Don't just attend church for an hour a week. Take a step! What step should you take?
1. Follow Jesus! If you have followed Jesus...
2. Get baptized! If you are following Jesus, then that's all you need to be "ready" to take this step.
3. Volunteer! Don't simply be a consumer, but be part of making a difference in the lives of those who come to OneLife to experience Jesus. There are weekday and Sunday opportunities. Get info about what opportunities there are for you!
4. Join a micro church! You can't have true community sitting in rows with a large crowd. That's not the church - it's an event! Micro churches are small "churches" of 10-12 adults that meet in homes throughout the week to learn together, pray together, serve the community together, and care for each other together.
