Devoted to family

My goal is that we would leave here today valuing the important and vital role of the local church today and be devoted to the family of God.
That we would take church seriously and find our belonging in the household of God.

Paul calls the church the "Household of God"

We are nota part of some religious social club with halfhearted devotion, we're apart of the FAMILY of God and we need each other.

Church is not meant to be done alone or on your own and biblically speaking you cannot do church on your own.

I fear we’ve made the Christian experience so much about our personal relationship with Christ that we’ve downplayed the vital role of the believers function in the church body. The early new testament church didn't know of a christianity that was isolated and outside of community with other believers .

If you read the new testament Paul was writing letters to the churches and encouraging and correcting them in some of their practices.
In revelations there are the letters to the churches….

3000 people were saved on the day of Pentecost and they didn't go home and practice church by themselves, they were devoted to the family of Believers!!!

Why should we be committed to the local church….

1.It creates belonging attached to your true identity……

When the local church is a priority it shows you and your family that this is who we are. We’re believers, we’re a part of the Household of God.

2.It creates a place to serve and love one another.

The Church provides a way to serve and use your gifts to help build others up and take care of one another.

3.It creates a place for you to be accountable and grow.

As a church we have to check our motives of why we want to know what’s going on in people’s lives, is it out of concern and love or curiosity, If you’re just curious then don’t ask.

We need to have a genuine concern for the spiritual and emotional state of our brothers and sisters in Christ.

Not wanting to be accountable is a sure way to stay immature.

4.Church provides a place for encouragement and bundling up.

We need to see what God is doing in the body of christ to help encourage us and motivate us to keep pursuing God ourselves.

The church is a family and that family loves and needs your presence.
Let's not isolate, let's not put everything else in front of the household of God let be be devoted.
