The Potential in Christ!

Our potential is unlimited! God wants to do ... and will do.. great things through His people.

An awesome move of God is going on in the world!
* vid of James Canaan Hill on American Idol who refused the secular songs.
* vid of Breann Nix and Brandon Lake on American Idol..lifting up Jesus
* vid of Campus Revivals across the land. Thousands of college students are coming to Christ!
* People are awakening to the Kingdom purposes.
Simplicity in Christ:

The Way:
The Way - through His death and resurrection
The Way - of His example
The Way - of His teaching

The Truth:
Jesus is the living Truth
Knowing Him gives knowledge of more and more of God and His Word.
You don't have to know everything...if you know Jesus...you have enough.
The Life:
Our 'very' life = our real, unpretended, actual life and living is from Christ.

Before We God...we must know our potential in Christ - individually/corporately:

Non-denominational: the pressure to 'be' whatever makes the individual comfortable may not serve the greater body. We must be willing to surrender, to some degree, our individual preferences for the ability to influence a region for the Lord Jesus.
Transformational Triggers:
When we are exposed to supernatural, 'mountaintop' experiences...we naturally want to stay there. Peter wanted to do the same. But Jesus led him down the mountain, and back to the responsibility of having the supernatural in the 'every day' living.

We are tempted to want the exciting - supernatural - awesome all the time. Some people actually chase various speakers and ministries trying to 'stay' on the mountain. But the real revival is what happens when we come down to the every day - the routine - the work - the grind...and find the supernatural is there too!!
The Authentic 'Book of Acts' Church:

* This mindset has been skewed through the years...that a true Book of Acts Church is this perfect...polished church that operates with no glitches.

* Acts is the second writing of Luke...a continuation of the Life of Jesus through the believer!

* What does an authentic book of Acts church look like?
Characteristics of a BOA Church:

1. Full of Problems:
* internal - orphans/widows * external how to mesh Judaizers with Gentiles in the same church * Theological issues - baptism under whose authority

2. Full of Troubled People:
* those who didn't like the message of repentance * those who lied to God about their giving * those who wanted to 'purchase' the power of God without prayer

3. Full of the Name of Jesus and Those who Died for Boldy Preaching Christ:
* many funerals for believers, beginning with Stephen
* Paul's death's death not recorded in Acts...but the last word of the book is 'unhindered'...Paul's dynamic witness to Christ was irrepressible - a source of continuing hope for God's people in hard times.

4. Full of Power:
* Miracles occurred in the believer's everyday life.

5. Full of Sacrifice and Generosity:
* This continuation of Christ consumed them to the point of extreme giving.
* In OT - Tabernacle - Moses told the people to 'stop' giving because they had more than enough. May it be in our day!

New Life Church:

1. Our preaching will be Christo-centric:
2. Our worship will be in Spirit and in Truth:
Stylistically - we like all kinds of flavors of worship, ministry, etc. We don't have to be locked into anyone's style. We can be us! We want people to have opportunity for a GOD-CONNECTION!
3. Our evangelism will largely bee an outgrowth of mimicking Jesus.

* Evangelism can be over complicated. We are simply partnering with what God is already doing.
* Miracles happen in the everyday disciplines - prayer, giving, being kind, making good coffee, being the best employee...etc.
Promise of Tomorrow:

Why??

1. People want truth!
2. People want authenticity!
3. People want to belong!
4. People want to find and fulfill their purpose!

***** The best is yet to come. Today is our 'floor' not our ceiling! Stay connected to Christ. Follow Him. Let's keep Jesus central to all we do and He will take care of the rest!!!
