I Want To Serve

As a kingdom minded church, we believe that the ultimate fulfillment of our purpose is to be vessels of His grace; giving of ourselves just as He completely gave Himself up for us. The life of a Christ Follower is not about being a spectator for a couple of hours on Sunday. Rather, we open the flood gates of heaven when we sacrificially give of our talents and time.

hey
First, David declares his love for the Lord. Second, David declares his absolute dependence upon the Lord.

David seems to be indicating that he will live his life with these two great themes ever before him. He is telling us that he finds his greatest delight in the Lord!
Since he was taken from the sheepfold and anointed the future king of Israel, David had lived some 20 or so years as a fugitive, and as a man who had lost everything. He lost his safety, he lost his youth, he lost his family, he lost his career, he lost his rights, he lost his connection with the covenant people of God, he lost his comforts, and at times he even lost his close relationship with God. Despite all, he remained steadfast to the Lord, and God – in His timing – delivered David and fulfilled the long-ago promise of his anointing.
Nine times in the first two verses, David uses the personal possessive pronoun “my”.
David’s plan is to Live for the Lord, Love the Lord and to Lean on the Lord for everything he needs, does, and is in life.
God Is Our Stability (Rock)
God Is Our Safety (Fortress)
God Is Our Savior (Deliverer)
God Is Our Sovereign (My God)
God Is Our Strength (I take Refuge)
God is Our Shield
God Is Our Security (Horn of Salvation)
God Is Our Supply (My Stronghold)
“To be saved singing is to be saved indeed. Many are saved mourning and doubting; but David had such faith that he could fight singing, and win the battle with a song still on his lips.”
~ Charles Spurgeon
