Three principles:
1. Jesus is the source of the salt and light.
2. Salt and light are not for themselves.

“It just stops working. Then it is indeed good for nothing but to be thrown away. That is the peculiar quality of salt. Everything else needs to be seasoned with salt, but once the salt itself has lost its savor, it can never be salted again. Everything else can be saved by salt, however bad it has gone—only salt which loses its savor has no hope of recovery. That is the judgment which always hangs over the disciple community, whose mission is to save the world, but which, if it ceases to live up to that mission, is itself irretrievably lost.”

Key Theme:
As followers of Jesus, we are to be the salt and light of Jesus, who gave us as a covenant to the world to proclaim his gift of salvation.
Key Application:
Do you have salt within yourself and the light of Christ so that you are a benefit to others by your life and witness of the gospel? Ask the Holy Spirit to empower you to be who Jesus has called you to be.
Key Verses:
Matthew 5:13-16
Key Questions:
1. YOU are the salt of the earth. What have you allowed in your life to corrupt and defile you so that you are not as useful as you should be for his kingdom?
2. YOU are the light of the world. How have you compromised to the culture so that the light of Christ in you has been diminished to those around you who don’t believe?
3. Who has God placed in your life where you live, work, and play that you could share his gift of salvation with so that they might be part of the “blessed”?
Sermon Scripture for next week: Read Matthew 5:16-20

Give Online
Church family, we praise God for how faithfully in so many respects you give. Our church family is undeniably generous, but we still have great needs for supplication. We ask that you give joyfully, faithfully and sacrificially in response to how our great God and Savior has given to us.
