Love Defined
- 1 Corinthians 13:4-7
o Jealous
o Boastful or Proud or Rude
o Demanding
Love Illustrated
- Philippians 2:3-8
Application:
How might that relationship be impacted if you were served rather than allowed yourself to be self-absorbed?
Reflection Questions:
- What’s your favorite love song?
Read 1 Corinthians 13:1-7.
- On Sunday, we said that love was not jealous – that love sees and celebrates your win, rather than only sees and mourns my loss. Where do you see jealousy in relationships?
- On Sunday, we said that love was not boastful, proud or rude - that love doesn’t always need to be the center of attention. Where do you see this trio in relationships?
- On Sunday, we said that does not demand its own way – that it doesn’t meet its needs at the expense of others. Where do you see this in relationships?

Read Phil 2:3-8.
- What’s a relationship that you have that is important to you right now, and what is a way that you could put that other person above yourself?
- What interests does the other person in that relationship have, and what would it look like for you to make one of those interests a priority to you?

Read vv 5-8 again.
- How does Paul describe the relational dynamic for Jesus in all of his earthly relationships?
- How and why did Jesus serve us?
- What are some practical ways you could serve in the relationship you brought to mind earlier?
