Sermon: Our Response to Jesus' Glory
Questions:
1. Opening question: Share a time when someone’s unexpected kindness or forgiveness changed how you saw yourself—or them.
2. The sermon examined the woman who wept at Jesus’ feet in Luke 7. What do you remember about each of the main points? What stood out to you?
3. Review Luke 7:36-50. What contrasts do you see between the woman and the Pharisee?
4. See Your Sin
a) Why do you think the woman was so aware of her sin, while Simon was not? (Luke 7:39–42; Romans 3:23; John 9:40-41)
b) How does seeing our sin relate to seeing the glory of Jesus? (Isaiah 6:1–5)
5. Pursue His Presence
a) What risks did the woman take in coming to Jesus? (Luke 7:37–38)
b) What holds us back today from drawing near to Jesus with the same boldness? (Hebrews 4:16)
6. Accept His Grace
a) How does Jesus’ response to the woman challenge our understanding of who deserves grace? (Luke 7:47–48; Ephesians 2:8–9)
b) What’s the difference between receiving grace intellectually and receiving it personally?
7. Embrace Transformation
a) What internal transformation does Jesus call Simon to consider? (Luke 7:44–47; Revelation 3:17–19)
b) How might you identify with Simon’s resistance or the woman’s brokenness?
8. Become a True Worshiper
a) What made the woman’s worship so powerful and sincere? (Luke 7:38; John 4:23–24)
b) What would heartfelt, costly worship look like in your own life?
9. Put Your Faith in Him
a) Why does Jesus end by emphasizing the woman’s faith? (Luke 7:50)
b) What does saving faith look like in response to Jesus' glory? (Galatians 2:20; John 20:31; 1 John 5:13)
10. Which of the six responses to Jesus’ glory do you most need to grow in this week—and how will you take a step toward it?
11. Prayer:
a) Ask God to help you respond to the glory of Jesus like the woman did—with humility, love, bold faith, and worship.
b) Take time to silently confess any areas where you’ve been more like Simon, then pray for one another to walk in renewed grace and peace.
