“I know your deeds, that you are neither cold nor hot. I wish you were either one or the other! 16 So, because you are lukewarm—neither hot nor cold—I am about to spit you out of my mouth. 17 You say, ‘I am rich; I have acquired wealth and do not need a thing.’ But you do not realize that you are wretched, pitiful, poor, blind and naked... 19 Those whom I love I rebuke and discipline. So be earnest and repent. 20 Here I am! I stand at the door and knock. If anyone hears my voice and opens the door, I will come in and eat with that person, and they with me.” (Revelation 3:15-17, 19-20) (NIV)
ἐμέω
emeo: to vomit, to throw up, to spew out forcefully
“You say, ‘I am rich; I have acquired wealth and do not need a thing.’ But you do not realize that you are wretched, pitiful, poor, blind and naked.” (Revelation 3:17) (NIV)

5 SIGNS YOU MIGHT BE LUKEWARM

You ________________________________ sin.
You _________________________________ your faith in Christ.
You only turn to _____________ when you ___________________________________________.
You’re not much different from ___________________________.
Do not love the world or anything in the world. If anyone loves the world, love for the Father is not in them. (1 John 2:15) (NIV)
“I correct and discipline everyone I love. So be diligent and turn from your indifference.” (Revelation 3:19) (NLT)
ONE ACTION STEP
Do something ______________________________ that requires ______________________.
“Look! I stand at the door and knock. If you hear my voice and open the door, I will come in, and we will share a meal together as friends.” (Revelation 3:20) (NLT)
TALK IT OVER

1. What stands out to you from this week’s message and why?

2. Think about someone you know who actively follows Jesus. What are some things that are different about them or their lives?

3. Read Revelation 3:15-17, 19-20. Is there an area of your life where you’re prioritizing comfort over living out your faith?

4. Look at the five signs you might be lukewarm. Is there anything on there that feels especially personal to you? Talk about that together.

5. What’s one thing you could do every day that would require faith? How might your life look different if you did that thing every day for a month?

Pray: Father, thank You for inviting us to fully follow You. Please help us to embrace a faith that cares more about commitment than comfort. We don’t want to be lukewarm, so show us how to live in faith. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
