This Is Us - Part 4
May 4, 2025
“For everything there is a season, a time for every activity under heaven. A time to cry and a time to laugh. A time to grieve and a time to dance. . . . A time to embrace and a time to turn away.”
(Ecclesiastes 3:3–5, NLT)
How can I make the most of my singleness in every season of life?

1. Focus on becoming the person you’re meant to be.
“Jesus grew in wisdom and in stature and in favor with God and all the people.”
(Luke 2:52, NLT)
What can I bring to a relationship as a man or woman?

2. Pray for your future spouse.
“O LORD, God of my master, Abraham, . . . . Please give me success today, and show unfailing love to my master, Abraham. . . . —let her be the one you have selected as Isaac’s wife.”
(Genesis 24:12–14, NLT)
Question to think about:
What can I start praying about for my future spouse?

3. Make the most of this time.
“So be careful how you live. Don’t live like fools, but like those who are wise. Make the most of every opportunity in these evil days.”
(Ephesians 5:15–16, NLT)
I want you to be free from the concerns of this life. An unmarried man can spend his time doing the Lord’s work and thinking how to please him. But a married man has to think about his earthly responsibilities and how to please his wife. His interests are divided.” In the same way, a woman who is no longer married or has never been married can be devoted to the Lord and holy in body and in spirit. But a married woman has to think about her earthly responsibilities and how to please her husband. I am saying this for your benefit, not to place restrictions on you. I want you to do whatever will help you serve the Lord best, with as few distractions as possible.”
(1 Corinthians 7:32–35, NLT)
Question to think about:
How can I make the most of my single years RIGHT NOW?

Through Gates of Splendor (pp. 19-20)
4. Don’t rush to fill the void with another relationship.
“For my people have done two evil things: They have abandoned me— the fountain of living water. And they have dug for themselves cracked cisterns that can hold no water at all!”
(Jeremiah 2:13, NLT)
Question to think about:
Why do I feel the need to be in a relationship?

5. Pursue Jesus more than anyone else, that’s the relationship that will last forever!
“When the dead rise, they will neither marry nor be given in marriage. In this respect they will be like the angels in heaven.”
(Mark 12:25, NLT)
“Let us be glad and rejoice, and let us give honor to him. For the time has come for the wedding feast of the Lamb, and his bride has prepared herself.”
(Revelation 19:7, NLT)
Question to think about:
What am I doing today to strengthen my relationship with Jesus?
________________________________________________________
“Christ loved the church. He gave up his life for her to make her holy and clean, washed by the cleansing of God’s word.”
(Ephesians 5:25–26, NLT)
“Blessed are those who are invited to the wedding feast of the Lamb.”
(Revelation 19:9, NLT)
