Text: Acts 2:1–41 (NLT)
Key Verse: “Everyone present was filled with the Holy Spirit and began speaking in other languages, as the Holy Spirit gave them this ability.” — Acts 2:4 (NLT)
Dominant Thought: The Holy Spirit fills us not just to feel goosebumps, but to proclaim Jesus and boldly draw people to salvation!
INTRODUCTION
🔹 The Spirit isn’t a backup plan — He’s the ignition switch!
🔹 Pentecost wasn’t a quiet moment — it was heaven breaking through!
I. THE ARRIVAL OF THE SPIRIT (Acts 2:1–4)
Perfect Timing: Pentecost (50 days after Passover) — harvest time!
Wind: God's breath ("Ruach") — mighty, not mild.
Fire: God's presence, purity, and power.
▶️ The Spirit was working backstage (Old Testament) — now He steps into the spotlight!
Takeaway:
▶️ God reverses Babel — languages unite in the Gospel!
II. THE AMAZEMENT OF THE CROWD (Acts 2:5–13)
Devout Jews from 15+ nations hear God's wonders in their own languages.
Two Responses:
➡️ Amazement and curiosity.
➡️ Mockery (“They’re just drunk!” — at 9 a.m.!)
Takeaway:
▶️ When God moves, some will marvel — others will mock.
III. THE BOLDNESS OF THE APOSTLE (Acts 2:14–36)
Peter's Transformation: From fearful denier ➡️ to fearless preacher!
Peter’s Message: Jesus’ life, death, resurrection, and exaltation. Pentecost points to Jesus, not just an experience!
Takeaway:
▶️ The Spirit turns cowards into carriers of the Gospel.
IV. THE CONVICTION OF THE HEART (Acts 2:37–41)
Hearts Pierced: “What should we do?”
Peter's Response:
➡️ Repent, turn to God, be baptized, receive the Holy Spirit.
Result:
▶️ 3,000 souls saved in one day! Revival, not just growth!
Takeaway:
▶️ The Spirit convicts — not condemns — leading to salvation.
V. APPLICATION: THE SPIRIT STILL COMES
🔹 The same Spirit who came at Pentecost is available today!
🔹 The Spirit fills us to:
Speak, Serve, Shine — not to Sit, Soak, Sour.
Move Boldly — not just to feel blessed.
▶️ The Spirit is a wind tunnel to launch you forward — not a jacuzzi to make you cozy!
🔥 Conclusion
👉 We don’t need a memory of Pentecost — we need a move of Pentecost!
👉 The Spirit still comes to shake, set hearts on fire, and turn weaklings into witnesses!
REFLECTION QUESTION: Are you just watching the wind… or are you walking into it?
🙏 INVITATION
✅ Need a fresh baptism in the Holy Spirit?
✅ Has your fire gone dim?
✅ Need boldness like Peter?
➡️ Today is your day! The Spirit still comes.
