The Next church value at TFH is "Spirit Empowered".

We are a people empowered by the spirit of God.

This is where most of the American church is at today....."we didn't even know there was a Holy Spirit"

we have become so familiar with religious tradition that we haven't learned to pursue of rely on the power of the Holy Spirit in our lives.

Gordon fee writes
“... if there is one thing that differentiates the early church from its twentieth century counterpart it is the level of awareness and experience of the presence and power of the Holy Spirit. Ask any number of people of today from all sectors of Christendom to define or describe Christian conversion or Christian life, and the most noticeable feature of that definition would be the general lack of emphasis on the active dynamic role of the Spirit.”

Some argue since the completion of the Bible we don't need the same power that the early church had....


The completion of the bible was never meant to exchange our relationship with the holy Spirit with a relationship with the bible. It was to help us grow in our intimate relationship with God by studying others who had encounters with him and learn what he's like and to know him better.

Lets look at what Jesus has to say in acts 1

There's power available to you to walk this life out and move in power to share the gospel with people around you!!
How many of you at times feel like you don't have what it takes to do what God wants you to do??
You don't have the willpower to overcome sin in your life, you don't have the boldness to share your faith, you don't have the ability to pray for the sick and see them recover!!
Are you ready?…. You don't….. You need the power of the Holy Spirit of God!!

Jd greer a famous baptist Pastor writes
“I had always been a little frustrated, because it seemed like people in the bible had a fundamentally different relationship with God than my own.There was a hollowness in my spiritual life. God was more a doctrine than a person. I also felt crushed by the amount of stuff that needed to be done in the world. There was always one more orphan, one more unreached people group. I began to discover that an understanding of our relationship with the Holy Spirit helps to soothe these anxieties. Instead of saying. “ Look at all that God needs me to do for him,” the Spirit reminds us to say, “ Look at what God is empowering me to do.”

Friend you don't have what it takes to fulfill the calling on your life, but with the empowering of the spirit of God you will succeed.

This isn't the first time God was empowering people by his spirit for his purposes.

Joseph was filled with the Spirit of God (Genesis 41:38).38 And Pharaoh said to his servants, "Can we find [such a one] as this, a man in whom [is] the Spirit of God?

"The craftsmen who built the tabernacle were filled with the Spirit of God (Exodus 31:3).3 "And I have filled him with the Spirit of God, in wisdom, in understanding, in knowledge, and in all [manner of] workmanship,

Joshua was filled with the Spirit of God (Numbers 27:18).18 And the LORD said to Moses: "Take Joshua the son of Nun with you, a man in whom [is] the Spirit, and lay your hand on him;

The judge Othniel was filled with the Spirit of God (Judges 3:10).10 The Spirit of the LORD came upon him, and he judged Israel. He went out to war, and the LORD delivered Cushan-Rishathaim king of Mesopotamia into his hand; and his hand prevailed over Cushan-Rishathaim.

The judge Gideon was filled with the Spirit of God (Judges 6:34).34 But the Spirit of the LORD came upon Gideon; then he blew the trumpet, and the Abiezrites gathered behind him.

Then in the new testament we see the spirit fall on Jesus at his baptism and the the disciples and christ sent them out.

Then we get to Acts chapter 2

In the old testament God was selective about who he empowered with the Holy Spirit but Joel saw a time coming 800 years later where God would pour out his spirit on all People on whoever would call on the name of the lord!!

Every believer has access to the power of the Holy Spirit!!

Theres more encounters with Gods spirit and power to share the Gospel available to you today!!

We are not a powerless church. There are more fillings of the Holy Spirit to be experienced today and everyday for the rest of your life!!

If you want a fresh filling of the Holy Spirit today simply ask God to fill you and receive by faith!!
