1. Adoption
What does this mean?
1. Adoption
a. You belong
b. You benefit
a. You belong
b. You benefit
“Their community life, though far from perfect…was nevertheless sufficiently different and impressive to attract notice, to invite curiosity and to inspire discipleship in an age that was a pleasure-conscious, as materialistic and as devoid of serious purpose as our own. Paganism saw in early Christianity a quality of living, and supremely of dying, which could not be found elsewhere.”

2. Love and unity
“when Perpetua and Felicitas were both stunned after being tossed by the cow…Perpetua woke up, went to Felicitas , raised her up, and the two stood side by side – a patrician and a slave reflexively and highly visibly expressing Christian [unity].”
Key Theme:
All who are in Christ belong to a family, adopted as sons and daughters called to love and unity.
Key Application:
Seek to intentionally foster a sense of family seeking to build relationships founded on love even as we embrace diversity.
Key Verse:
1 John 4:20-21 “If anyone says, “I love God,” and hates his brother, he is a liar; for he who does not love his brother whom he has seen cannot love God whom he has not seen. And this commandment we have from him: whoever loves God must also love his brother."
Key Questions:
1. In what ways do I view the church as my spiritual family, and how can I grow in treating fellow believers as true brothers and sisters in Christ?
2. Are there any personal barriers—such as past hurts, biases, or preferences—that keep me from fully embracing unity and love within the church? How can I surrender those to God?
3. What is one practical step I can take this week to demonstrate the love and unity of Christ within my church community?

Church family, we praise God for how faithfully in so many respects you give. Our church family is undeniably generous, but we still have great needs for supplication. We ask that you give joyfully, faithfully and sacrificially in response to how our great God and Savior has given to us.
