The Risen Messiah - Easter 2025
During his life and ministry, Jesus was doubted all the time. His resurrection gives full validity and proof that he truly is the Messiah - the anointed one sent to be the fulfiller of God’s promise of redemption and rescue. We follow a Risen Savior and we’re to now radiate his hope to a world searching for it.

We've spent some of the past few weeks looking into how some Hebrew words God used to bring further explanation, understanding and insight to His nature and character. This Easter, we look into some more Hebrew words that help us explore the beauty of the resurrection of our Messiah. Our Savior. King Jesus.

Jesus identifying himself as the long awaited Messiah - sent to make a way for God’s life to return to a broken, lost, sinful and separated people.
The Hebrew word for Redeemer is GOEL - which means “to buy back”
— this is what we remember at Easter.
Jesus came on a search and rescue mission - as the Messiah - to buy us back from our slavery to sin and brokenness and from being lost, separated from God.
Colossians 1:13-14
13 For he has rescued us from the dominion of darkness and brought us into the kingdom of the Son he loves, 14 in whom we have redemption, the forgiveness of sins.

Take a moment to consider this with me.
If the Jews or Romans had produced the body of Jesus, in days preceding reports of resurrection. Christianity would have been snuffed out immediately. But they didn't. Couldn't. The disciples went from hiding to bolding proclaiming. Something changed them.
Such radical change deserves an explanation, for human character and conduct DO NOT transform easily or often.
The only plausible explanation is:
something beyond regular reality; changed their actual reality
RESURRECTION REALLY HAPPENED

“The resurrection is not an isolated supernatural oddity proving how powerful God is. It is the decisive event demonstrating that God's kingdom really has been launched on earth as it is in heaven.”
— N.T. Wright, Surprised by Hope
“The resurrection of Jesus is not only the best explanation of the facts—it’s the only explanation that makes sense of them all.” —William Lane Craig

We don’t have a blind faith.
We have a reasonable faith in a RISEN MESSIAH - a SAVIOR for any and all who will trust in Him.

Jesus' first sermon in Luke 4 - he is quoting from Isaiah 61.
About what the Messiah would do.
That’s what we celebrate on Easter Sunday:
The resurrected Messiah (Jesus) who said what he said, followed through on what he said, laid down his life as a ransom —HE raised it back up again to prove He is who he said he is — the MESSIAH - THE ONE and ONLY savior of the world.
Jesus is not just a great teacher or prophet—He is the long-awaited Messiah, the fulfillment of every promise God made.

“If Jesus rose from the dead, then you have to accept all that He said. If He didn’t rise from the dead, then why worry about any of what He said? The issue on which everything hangs is not whether or not you like His teaching but whether or not He rose from the dead.”
— Tim Keller, The Reason for God
The resurrection of Jesus isn’t a myth, a metaphor, or a lie. It’s a historical event that stands on solid ground.

Following Jesus is about a "first step" finding salvation in Him - coming to a place of trusting Him for the forgiveness of your sins and that your faith in him is what restores a right relationship with our Creator.
== Romans 10:9-10
If you declare with your mouth, “Jesus is Lord,” and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved. 10 For it is with your heart that you believe and are justified, and it is with your mouth that you profess your faith and are saved.
We're then invited into our next steps of spiritual growth in following our Risen Messiah and Savior in each new day...
You may want to get baptized -- and it just so happens we've got our Baptism Celebration Sunday NEXT WEEKEND. We'd love to invite you back and to consider getting baptized if you've chosen to follow Jesus!
