Series - "Simply Jesus: You are the Christ the Son of the Living God"

This series will help us see Jesus different from the pale-faced, halo-wearing, weakling portrayed by many artists. Jesus was the God-man. His life is the bridge to eternal life. During the Lenten Season, let us turn our full attention to Him, the hope of glory. Today we will view him as The Carpenter.

Simply Jesus
Take A Look at Jesus
Becoming A Christian:

We are being built:

Salvation:
1. We are saved.
2. We are being saved.
3. We will be saved.

We know Him more:
1. Through His Word.
2. Through Community with the Body of Christ.
3. Through the teaching of the Holy Spirit guiding us.
See Jesus as The Carpenter:

Carpenter apprenticeship would put a person in touch with everyone in town. (animal pen, furniture, small boat, railings, etc)
Jesus became aware of human needs.

Jesus was involved with everyone then...and now. No soul too rich, too poor for Jesus.

Each of Us are Building A House:
Let Christ finish the work He has begun in you.
Tools of the Trade:

A. Square: we may think we are 'squared away' but really we are nothing without Jesus. Each of us have inherent sins...we are crooked and cannot make our lives straight. But Jesus,.... He came to make the crooked places straight!

B. Hammer: used to drive nails, to join things together, to pull nails, to tap things into place.
"What God hath joined together, let no man put asunder."
* Perhaps you 'joined' the church without getting 'joined to the church! Let God bump the wrong things down the list and bump the value and priority of the church into your life. You will be glad you did.

C. Chisel: carpenters have more tools that cut than tools that join.
* A carver makes a work of art - not by 'adding' wood, but by taking the right wood away.

D. Level: the ability to get centered and balanced on God's Word
1. The vertical plane: How is your relationship with God? It can only be made secure through Jesus.
2. The horizontal plane: How is your relationship with your fellow man...esp your brother/sister?
Marks of A Jesus House:

In what ways does your life reflect the building of God?

You can tell a life that Christ is building:
Signs of a Strong 'Jesus' House:

1. If we can weep over our lost city.
2. If we will not substitute selfish purchases for our faithful financial support.
3. If we cannot go days without extended time in prayer.
4. If our greatest pleasures revolve around greater revelation of God through His Word.
Let Jesus, the Carpenter, work on your life today!
