Sermon - "Three Confessions of a Life on Course"

Three Confessions of a Life on Course It takes very little to throw us off-course. Being off only a little seems to be acceptible until we see its effect in time and distance. Today we will look at three confessions from the Psalms to keep our lives on track.

The Believer's Journey

We are on a journey to the Celestial City!

Bouy Markers...assist big ships in navigating their traverse from ocean to port and port to ocean. There are some markers (confessions) we will study today.
The First Confession: Salvation - "I Need You God!"
We confess when...
1. We see the wretchedness of ourselves.
2. We see the saving work of God on our behalf.

John Bunyan - " Then one day this sentence fell upon my soul - 'Thy righteousness is in heaven...and I saw with the eys of my soul Jesus Christ as God's right hand, there, I say, as my righteousness...I also saw moreover, that it was not my good frame of heart that made my righteousness better, nor yet my bad frame that made my righteousness worse; for my righteousness was Jesus Christ himself, the same yesterday, today, and forever. Now did my chains fall off my legs indeed, I was loosed from my affliction and irons, my temptations also fled away..."
The Second Confession: Discipleship - "I Love You Jesus!"

The Great Transition: when our soul desire goes from one of 'need' to one of 'love'

Discipleship is taking responsibility for the church.

Becoming a 'love slave' to Christ.
The Third Confession: Evangelism - "I Love People!"
A great marker is one's love for people:

1. Love and Care for God's People - the church.
* be loyal to your church
* be a defender of your church
* make sure those you follow speak 'church' language - 'our' church, 'my' leaders, 'our' team. This is not a one man show...we are a team!

2. Love for the Lost.
* professional, polished
* broken, messed up
Follow the Markers: They will lead you home!

Thank you for serving, giving, caring, working. God's church relys upon people just like you to move forward. Together we can do great things for the Kingdom - here, and around the world!

You are loved!
