2 Corinthians 4:16-18 – “So we do not lose heart. Though our outer self is wasting away, our inner self is being renewed day by day. For this light momentary affliction is preparing for us an eternal weight of glory beyond all comparison, as we look not to the things that are seen but to the things that are unseen. For the things that are seen are transient, but the things that are unseen are eternal.”

1 Corinthians 15:54-57 – “‘Death is swallowed up in victory.’ ‘O death, where is your victory? O death, where is your sting?’ The sting of death is sin, and the power of sin is the law. But thanks be to God, who gives us the victory through our Lord Jesus Christ.”

Glory
Glory in the Bible carries a weight that goes beyond just brightness or honor—it is the very manifestation of God’s presence, power, beauty, and worth. Below are key biblical aspects of glory and what they reveal:
1. Glory as the Weight and Presence of God
The Hebrew word for glory, “kabod” (כָּבוֹד), literally means weight or heaviness. It signifies substance, significance, and splendor—the sheer reality of God’s presence.
Exodus 24:16-17 – “The glory of the Lord dwelt on Mount Sinai, and the cloud covered it six days… Now the appearance of the glory of the Lord was like a devouring fire on the top of the mountain.”
1 Kings 8:10-11 – “When the priests came out of the Holy Place, a cloud filled the house of the Lord, so that the priests could not stand to minister because of the cloud, for the glory of the Lord filled the house of the Lord.”
Glory isn’t just something God has—it is who He is. His presence is so weighty that it overwhelms everything else.
2. Glory as the Beauty and Radiance of God
God’s glory is His brilliance, holiness, and beauty revealed to creation.
Psalm 19:1 – “The heavens declare the glory of God, and the sky above proclaims his handiwork.”
Ezekiel 1:28 – “Like the appearance of the bow that is in the cloud on the day of rain, so was the appearance of the brightness all around. Such was the appearance of the likeness of the glory of the Lord.”
God’s glory is visible in creation, in His holiness, and in His majesty. The heavens are not just pretty—they are proclaiming who God is.
3. Glory as the Character and Worth of God
Glory isn’t just a physical display—it’s also the moral excellence, faithfulness, and goodness of God.
Exodus 33:18-19 – Moses asks, “Please show me your glory.” And God responds, “I will make all my goodness pass before you and will proclaim before you my name ‘The Lord.’”
Isaiah 6:3 – The angels cry, “Holy, holy, holy is the Lord of hosts; the whole earth is full of his glory!”
God’s glory is His holiness and goodness revealed. When we see His glory, we see who He truly is.
4. Glory as Revealed in Jesus Christ
Jesus is the full revelation of God’s glory. When we see Christ, we see the radiance of God Himself.
John 1:14 – “And the Word became flesh and dwelt among us, and we have seen his glory, glory as of the only Son from the Father, full of grace and truth.”
Hebrews 1:3 – “He is the radiance of the glory of God and the exact imprint of his nature.”
God’s glory is not just a cloud or fire—it’s a person. Jesus is the visible, tangible display of God’s weight, worth, and beauty.
5. Glory as Our Future Inheritance
In Romans 8:18, Paul says that the glory to be revealed in us is so great that our current suffering is “not worth comparing” to it.
2 Corinthians 4:17 – “For this light momentary affliction is preparing for us an eternal weight of glory beyond all comparison.”
Colossians 1:27 – “Christ in you, the hope of glory.”
Philippians 3:20-21 – “But our citizenship is in heaven… He will transform our lowly body to be like his glorious body.”
Our future glory is our full restoration in Christ—when we will see Him as He is and be made like Him (1 John 3:2).
6. Glory as Our Purpose—Living for God’s Fame
Glory isn’t just something we receive—it’s something we live for. We were made to reflect and magnify God’s glory.
1 Corinthians 10:31 – “So, whether you eat or drink, or whatever you do, do all to the glory of God.”
Matthew 5:16 – “Let your light shine before others, so that they may see your good works and give glory to your Father who is in heaven.”
Isaiah 43:7 – “Everyone who is called by my name, whom I created for my glory, whom I formed and made.”
Glory is both our destiny and our purpose. We exist to point everything back to God.
