Locations & Times

1000 S Main St, Alta, IA 51002, USA

Sunday 8:30 AM

Sunday 10:00 AM

What is the foundation for human dignity?
1. God made us in His image and likeness. (v 26-27)
2. God gave us privileges and responsibilities. (v 28-31)
3. God finished His work and rested. (v 2:1-3)
Sermon Discussion
Applying God’s Word through Journey Groups, family devotions, or personal meditation:

Opener
1. What’s one of the most breathtaking sights in nature you’ve ever seen? How did it make you feel about God and your place in the world?

Recap
2. Read Genesis 1:26-2:3. What stood out to you most from the sermon? Was there a particular verse or point that resonated with you?

3. How is the Bible’s understanding of human dignity different from what we see in our society?

4. How does Jesus, as the perfect image of God (Colossians 1:15), help us understand what it truly means to be human?

5. What are some ways we can be faithful stewards (or vice-regents) of creation in our daily lives and work?

6. Is it hard for you to take a rest or are you prone to being lazy? How should we respond to this example God gives us by resting on the seventh day?

Digging Deeper—Read Psalm 8.
7. What do you think it means that humans are a little lower than the heavenly beings?

8. How does v 5 challenge the secular view that we are merely higher evolved animals?

9. V 6 brings up the term “dominion” just like in Genesis. What does it mean to have dominion? How does that add to our human dignity?

Application
9. How does being made in God’s image impact how you understand yourself and others?
