Big Idea:
Be filled with the love, confidence, and rejoicing of justification by faith alone!

a. The love of justification is poured out through the Holy Spirit.

b. The filling of the Spirit can be experienced more or less at different times.

i. "Be filled with the Spirit" (Eph. 5:18b)

ii. The FEELING of Romans 5:5 is experienced by focusing on and believing the FACTS of Romans 5:6-8.

a. We shall be saved from the wrath of God!
• 5:9a – the greater work: “…we have now been justified by his blood…”
• 5:9b – the lesser work: “much more shall we be saved by him from the wrath of God.”

b. We will not lose our salvation!
• 5:10a – the greater work: “…if while we were enemies we were reconciled to God by the death of his Son…”
• 5:10b – the lesser work: “much more, now that we are reconciled, shall we be saved by his life.”

a. We rejoice in GOD HIMSELF!

i. Do you rejoice in God? Do you rejoice in having peace with Him? Do rejoice in having access to Him? Do you rejoice in the hope of being with Him forever? Do you rejoice in your sufferings because they deepen your experience of Him? Rejoicing in God is the greatest evidence and blessing of being justified by faith!

Pursue being filled with the Spirit this week by memorizing Romans 5:1-11, actively believing it, and asking God to pour His love into your heart.
