I. A Racing Mind is a Challenge.

Ecclesiastes 2:22-23 NIV - “What do people get for all the toil and anxious striving with which they labor under the sun? All their days their work is grief and pain; even at night their minds do not rest.”

Ways to Quiet a Racing Mind:
1. Breathe Deeply & Meditate on Scripture

2. Practice Gratitude

3. Limit Digital Distractions

4. Engage in more Worship & Prayer

6. Ground Yourself in Creation

7. Use “Scriptural Self-Talk”

8. Create a Wind-Down Routine

II. Jesus Modeled Slowing.

Mark 1:35 ESV - “And rising very early in the morning, while it was still dark, he departed and went out to a desolate place, and there he prayed.”

Steps to Slow Down in Life
1. Schedule Unhurried Time with God

2. Practice the Sabbath

3. Set Boundaries for Technology

4. Simplify Your Schedule

5. Engage in Meaningful Reflection

6. Slow Down Your Pace

7. Embrace Creation & Meditative Silence

8. Develop a Bedtime Wind-Down Routine

III. Be Still and Know God.

Psalm 46:10 NASB - “Cease striving and know that I am God.”

Taking time to be still before God reminds us that we are loved for who we are, not for what we do.

Here’s how you can practice silence before the Lord:
1. Find a Quiet Place

2. Eliminate Distractions

3. Set a Timer

4. Relax and Be Present

5. Meditate on a Verse or Phrase

6. Listen Instead of Speaking

7. Acknowledge Wandering Thoughts

8. Practice Gratitude

IV. Practice the Habit of Solitude.

Matthew 6:6 NLT - “But when you pray, go away by yourself, shut the door behind you, and pray to your Father in private. Then your Father, who sees everything, will reward you.”

Creative Solitude… Your car, a walk outside, the bathroom, an empty room at work... or maybe even an apron over your head.
