This is Jesus teaching his disciples and followers at the sermon on the mount about trusting in Him and prioritizing Him first.
Jesus teaches them to not store up treasures on earth. What are some things people tend to store up in our society? Why is this so dangerous?
He says we can’t serve 2 masters. This seems obvious yet many people tend to try to serve 2 masters. What masters might people be tempted to serve today?
Does anyone have an example of a “master” they served other than God? How did that go, and why was it so tempting for you?
Jesus then teaches them to not worry because if God takes care of the birds and the flowers, He will surely take care of us. Why do you think worry is our first instinct? What is the opposite of worry?
Finally, Jesus teaches them to “seek the Kingdom of God above all else”. What did that mean to the early believers? What does it mean to you?
How does seeking God first impact the relationships you have in your life?
