Sermon Series: Kingdom people

Jesus's main message was about the "kingdom of God".

The pharisees were expecting a military leader of some sort who would claim geographical lines and defeat the Roman empire. They were looking for some type of inauguration to establish the new king of the Jews.

The King of this new kingdom was actually standing in front of them and they missed it completely......

I wonder how many things we miss that God is doing in our midst.

Jesus was inaugurating the kingdom but not as a military leader defeating human enemies but setting up his rule in the hearts of men, one at a time.

He doesn't act like other kings, he has no palace and he eats dinner with the low class, women and outcasts. He doesn't act like a worldy king.

He came to bear witness to the truth and anyone who believes this truth is a citizen of Christ kingdom.

We have a king that is charge of our lives. Jesus is not something you add to your life and your plans, he is King and we give up our lives to serve him.

We are a kingdom people!!

We're not of this world.

Cs lewis says we're not human beings with a temporary spiritual experience were spiritual beings with a temporary human experience.

The bible says we are sojourners, foreigners, nomads

The term sojourner in the Bible refers to a person who is just passing through.

We are not citizens of this world, only sojourners in it.

Kingdom people do not act like worldly people; we represent our king!!

We're not Americans first, we're are citizens of the kingdom of God!

This world is not our home, and knowing this will keep our hearts from setting all our attention on earthly things and comfort.

“The wise Christian is one who lives every day with bags packed, ready to move on when God directs and eager to vacate this world when our Father calls us home.”

We're here to fulfill the mission of our king.

We are not here to just accomplish our dreams and ambitions, we are here to extend his kingdom to the world around us.
