What is a family focus?

Family core values: The shared beliefs and behaviors that bind a family together.

Family values help create a shared identity and a sense of togetherness.


Why should we focus on building family identity?
-Our family identities make up a substantial portion of a individual’s personal identity.
-Family values create a legacy passed from generation to generation.

How do we build a family focus?1. Write down the values your family will focus on.

To build a family focus, there are a few key concepts to be established in order to lay a strong foundation:

-The love of God, the love of family, the love of others, the love of self, and the love oftruth.

-When making your list narrow it down to a few key concepts that you can memorize and mention often.

2. Talk often about your family values.

If you don’t give your kids won’t live it.
-Give it by teaching
-Give it by exampleWe are the first examples of God that our children experience.
You can’t teach one thing and do another.


3. Pay attention to values-related growth.

Acknowledge when your family values are demonstrated.
