I. Christmas - Wonderful in many respects...highly anticipated...relief when it is over. The joy of Christmas is in giving.
This series is not just about Giving...but about Living! A life of generosity is the most blessed life of all.

II. Children are Inherently Selfish:
A. Jesus likened the unredeemed to children who were so preoccupied with their pleasure they did not hear the music. (Mt 11:17)
B. Biblical History: It didn't start well - Adam and Eve, Cain and Abel, Jacob and Esau. All lost a great deal due to their selfish ambition.
C. Lucifer fell from heaven due to his pride and selfish desire.

III. Three Important Aspects of Converson
A. Past: dealing with the former life.
B. Present: finding the benevolent love of God and falling in love with Him.

IV. Christmas: Summed up in a single words - Giving!
A. Jesus didn't come to give us a holiday. He came to give us eternal life. He gave His life to give us eternal life.
B. The triunity of God reveals generosity:
1. The Father: Gave to us all things in creation.
Jn 3:16 - 'For God so loved that He gave...'
2. The Son: Offered Himself
Heb 9:14 - "how much more will the blood of Christ, who through the eternal Spirit offered Himself without blemish to God, cleanse your conscience from dead works to serve the living God?"
3. The Holy Spirit:
Eph 4:8 - 'When He ascended on high He led captivity captive and He gave gifts to men...'
Ps 68:18 - "He received gifts 'from/among' men..."
** He recieved gifts to distribute among men!
Acts 2:38 - "...and you will recieve the gift of the Holy Ghost."
C. Our God is the Greatest Giver ever!
Bethlehem is proof.
Our lives are proof.

V. Christmas is About a Genuine Conversion of Giving:

D. Giving Forgiveness: If ever there was a universal language - forgiveness is it. We all need it. We all will have need to extend it to others.
