Series: Teach us to pray
Title: Our Father in Heaven, hallowed be you name.

In Matthew 6 Jesus is teaching the disciples on prayer.

This not meant to be a word for word prayer guide but more of a model of prayer that teaches us many things about prayer.

This is about relationship not models

"Our father in heaven, Hallowed be your name."

First off, notice how Jesus didn't say my father in heaven he said our father.
Jesus didnt come to show off this exclusive relationship status with the father of creation, he let everyone know when we pray were praying to "Our Father" and this relationship that jesus has with his father is for everyone who comes to faith in Christ.

Our father lets us know that we are apart of something so much bigger than ourselves and our prayer should also be for the family of God as well.

How many peoples lives would be affected if you stopped praying?Would it just be yours?

By acknowledging him as father we understand that the one were praying to knows everything about us!

We approach prayer with humility knowing God knows all about every detail of our lives.

When we pray we come to our loving Father who is the provider and protector of his children, he's not a distant God!

Jesus didn't say our Angry judge in heaven who awaits to punish sinners, he says I want you to understand that prayer is about a loving caring father who loves to take care of his children.

"In Heaven"
Jesus places God in heaven and I think a part of this is understanding the magnitude of the one whom we are praying to.He cannot be contained by earth or our solar system or even the universe. Ware praying to the lord of all creation and he's big enough to handle your needs!

Hallowed Be Thy Name
Hallowed means holy or sanctified. God’s name is holy, as God is the epitome of sanctity.

When we pray we come with reverence and honor to our God!! We don't just come casually, we come with holy reverence and awe of our King!!

When we pray we commit ourselves to live holy lives as the father is holy. We understand that we are also called to be set apart for his glory!!

We come to God in worship and praise and we also pray that the entire world will recognize the holy name of God as the one true God of all, the Creator and Ruler of the universe.

1.Were apart of something bigger than ourselves
2.We pray to loving father who knows us better than we know ourselves
3.We pray to the Lord of All creation who sits on heaven's throne. He can handle our needs
4.We pray in reverence and set ourselves apart to live holy lives
5.We pray with worship and adoration and pray that the whole earth will glorify his name.Jesus teaches us to pray!!!

Maybe you found yourself here today and you have yet to surrender your life to Jesus. All have sinned and fallen short of Gods standard. We all need a savior. Jesus is the only way to be forgiven of sins. If you want to come give your life to Jesus today come down and pray with one of our prayer team or pray this prayer yourself this morning .

"Jesus I believe you died for my sins, I believe you rose from the grave, I recognize my need for a savior to forgive me of my sins, you are the only one who can save me, I surrender my whole life to you today in Jesus name, Amen"

Just like us as fathers know our kids ke knows us.
