Acts - The Gospel’s Grand Adventure Begins (week 1)
Acts 1:1-11 – Scripture Reading:

Series intro: I remember a teen sitting in a darkened movie theater.
Immediately I knew I was in for an epic adventure. Today we're beginning an even greater adventure ... not fiction, history ... OUR HISTORY! And this true story changed everything and continues to shape our world today. Welcome to our journey through the Book of Acts.
"In my former book, Theophilus,..." Acts 1:1
Theophilus = Loved by God or Friend of God
"...I wrote about all that Jesus began to do and to teach." Acts 1:1
Who is Luke?
"... no one can say, 'Jesus is Lord,' except by the Holy Spirit."
1 Corinthians 12:3b
"...and you will be my witnesses in Jerusalem, and in all Judea and Samaria, and to the ends of the earth.” Acts 1:8b
hey
This is the outline for Acts and the spread of the Church!
1. The gospel to Jerusalem (chs. 1–7) Jews
2. The gospel to Judea and Samaria (chs. 8–12) Samaritans are related to Jews
3. The gospel to the ends of the earth (chs. 13–28) Gentiles
Our 'ends of the earth'? That's wherever God calls us to step out in faith.

The disciples were told not to stand looking into the sky. We too are called to action. We're part of this grand adventure that began over 2000 years ago.

Where is our Jerusalem? How can we be witnesses today? Remember, we are never alone - we go with the power of the Holy Spirit. Let's embrace our role in this epic story of God's love and redemption.
