The Two Beasts (Revelation 13)

The Two Beasts (Revelation 13)

Sunday, August 18, 2024--Message #19 by Pastor Doug Corlew, Revelation: Triumph of the Lamb Sermon Series

Locations & Times

1000 S Main St, Alta, IA 51002, USA

Sunday 8:30 AM

Sunday 10:00 AM

As we encounter the Dragon's henchmen, Go calls us to apply His Word with:
1. Faith to endure evil opposition (The beast out of the sea, v 1-10)
2. Wisdom to discern spiritual opposition (The beast out of the land, v 11-18)
Applying God’s Word through 1:10 Journey groups, family devotions, or personal meditation:

Opener
1. What events in your life have greatly tested your endurance?

Recap
2. Read Revelation 13. What stood out to you as refreshing, challenging, or encouraging from this week’s sermon or passage?

3. Describe the two beasts. How are they similar? Different? What are their purposes?

4. In v 3, the beast bears a mortal wound that is healed. What does this mean, and how does this serve as a parody (cheap mockery) of Christ?

5. How can we properly understand the purpose behind the number “666”?

Digging Deeper – Read 1 John 4:1-6.
6. How can we discern between true and false prophets?

7. What does it mean to “confess Jesus has come in the flesh” (v 2-3)?

8. How does this passage help inform our understanding of Revelation 13?

Application
9. When and where do you feel the seduction or pressure of the culture most keenly?

10. In what practical ways can we help each other to resist the hostility and seduction?
