The Little Scroll (Revelation 10)
Sunday, July 28, 2024--Message #16 by Pastor Doug Corlew, Revelation: Triumph of the Lamb Sermon Series
Locations & Times
1000 S Main St, Alta, IA 51002, USA
Sunday 8:30 AM
Sunday 10:00 AM
Another “interlude” focused on the people of God (chapters 10-11)
Four reasons to stay faithful as witnesses in a world of turmoil and unbelief:
1. Our God is in control everywhere (v 1-2).
1. Our God is in control everywhere (v 1-2).
2. Our God has not told us everything (v 3-4).
3. Our God will always be on time (v 5-7).
4. God's Word is both sweet and bitter (v 8-10).
Applying God’s Word through 1:10 Journey groups, family devotions, or personal meditation:
Opener
1. John was told to eat a scroll; what’s the strangest thing you’ve ever eaten?
Recap
2. Read Revelation 10. What stood out to you as confusing, challenging, or encouraging from this week’s sermon or passage?
3. In v 4, John is prohibited from writing down what he heard. Why do you think he was prohibited? Why would God keep things hidden from us?
4. Why can we have peace even though we don’t know all that will ultimately happen?
5. How has God’s Word been sweet to you?
Digging Deeper – Read Acts 17:16-34.
6. Describe Paul’s audience for this sermon.
7. What insights does this passage give us about the reaction we should expect when we proclaim the gospel to the world?
8. What encouragement does this passage and Revelation 10 give us about our call to share the gospel?
Application
9. On the “need-to-be-in-control spectrum” of 1-10, where do you land (1 = totally laid back, 10 = control freak)? Why?
10. Where in your life is God leading you to give up control and trust in Him? What’s keeping you from doing that?
