Applying God’s Word through 1:10 Journey groups, family devotions, or personal meditation:

Opener
1. What are the biggest, most shocking events in world news that you have experienced? How did you feel as you heard them, or watched them unfold on the news?

Recap
2. Read Revelation 6:1-17. What stood out to you from this week’s sermon?

3. In the first four seals, how does the color of each horse reflect the activity of the rider?

4. In the fifth seal, what do the martyrs pray for, and why is this a good and proper desire?

5. In the sixth seal, people are terrified by “the wrath of the Lamb.” What is surprising about this phrase, and how does it challenge the way so many view Jesus today?

Digging Deeper – Read Matthew 24:6-9.
6. How does this passage help us understand the significance of Revelation 6?

7. How are Jesus’ words of comfort to you? In what way do you find them troubling?

Application
8. What are the implications of these seal judgments as we witness war, violence, famine, catastrophic death, persecution, and disasters throughout our world today?

9. How did God speak to you through your personal Bible reading this week?
