Point 1 - Joy In God
David is asking for the experience of joy
The word translated "willing" in verse 12 means eager, bountiful, free, cheerful.
What we learn from these passages, and what we see in Psalm 51, is that God's salvation is basically a synonym for God's love.
On whom God fixes his love, it is immutable; it does not grow to eternity; it is not diminished at any time. It is an eternal love that had no beginning; that shall have no ending; that cannot be heightened by any act of ours, and that cannot be lessened by anything in us. By asking God to "restore", it means that this joy is something David had experienced but lost, and now wanted to experience again.
