How the world defines love.
1. Relational- strong affection for another, accepts anything
2.Reciprocal- give and take
3.Romantic- fueled solely by lust and desire

The worlds types of love are based on conditions.

Gods love is different.

What does the Bible say?

Greek words for love.
1. Eros- is the Greek word for sensual or romantic love.Love in the form of Eros seeks its own interest and satisfaction. God is very clear in the Bible that eros love is reserved for marriage.But within the boundary of marriage, eros love is to be celebrated and enjoyed as beautiful blessing from God:

Storge (Pronounced: STOR-jay)This Greek word describes family love, the affectionate bond that develops naturally between parents and children, and brothers and sisters.

Philia (Pronounced: FILL-ee-uh) is the type of intimate love in the Bible that most Christians practice toward each other. This Greek term describes the powerful emotional bond seen in deep friendships.

Agape (Pronounced: Uh-GAH-pay) is the highest of the four types of love in the Bible. This term defines God's immeasurable, incomparable love for humankind. It is the divine love that comes from God. Agape love is perfect, unconditional, sacrificial, and pure.

Agape Love is a choice. Agape love is the love that sticks around, a that fulfills the marriage vows. Messy hair, sick in the bathroom type of love!!!
How is this type of love better than selfish love??
Because my foundation to be loved is anchored in the everlasting love of God!! Who loves me at my worst. Who forgives all my sins!! Who pursued me while i was lost and broken.

How do we know God loves us?

Love originated from God to seek and save his people from the bondage of sin and set them free to live a life fully alive with Jesus.
