hey
Summary: God, the Heavenly Father, in His infinite wisdom and steadfast love provided the ultimate human relationship, second only to a relationship with him. It is the relationship He created. It is the relationship He blesses. It is the relationship through which God has planned to perpetuate humanity until the Lord’s return. God has created, blessed and directed a man and a woman to marry and to fill the earth! On this day we celebrate God’s loving gift of parents and family and give thanks to Him specifically for our mothers! As God has divinely selected each mother and assigned each child, we pause today to remember His blessings, His testings and His providential will, as we give Him thanks and honor our mothers!

A Tribute Prayer for Mother’s Day ~ Amy Young

To those Mom’s who gave birth this year to their first child
We CELEBRATE with you

To those Mom’s who lost a child this year
We MOURN DEEPLY with you

To those Mom’s who are in the trenches with little ones every day and wear the badge of food stains
We APPRECIATE you

To those who experienced loss through miscarriage, failed adoptions, or running away
We PRAY with you

To those who walk the hard path of infertility, fraught with pokes, prods, tears, and disappointment
We WALK with you.

Forgive us when we say foolish things. We don’t mean to make this harder than it is.

To those who are foster Mom’s, mentor Mom’s, and spiritual Mom’s
We Continue to NEED you

To those Mom’s who have warm and close relationships with your children
We CELEBRATE with you

To those Mom’s who have disappointment, heart ache, and distance with your children
We SIT BESIDE you

To those who lost their mothers this year
We GRIEVE with you

To those who experienced abuse at the hands of your own mother
We ACKNOWLEDGE your experience

To those who are single and long to be married and mothering your own children
We PRAY with you as you wait for the Lord

To those who step-parent
We WALK with you on these complex paths

To those who envision lavishing love on grandchildren
We WAIT PATIENTLY with you

To those Mom’s who will have empty nests in coming days
We GRIEVE and REJOICE with you

To those who placed children up for adoption
We COMMEND you for your selflessness and value how you hold that child in your heart

And to those who are pregnant with new life, both expected and surprising
We ANTICIPATE with you

This Mother’s Day, we thank God for you.

MOM, we HONOR YOU and we THANK GOD for YOU.

Life Application Sermon Guide (1-6):
1. Share a story from your childhood that connects to your mom.
2. Recount a lesson you learned from your mom.
3. Was there a time when your relationship with your mom was not what you wanted it to be? Or it should have been? Has the relationship been reparied? If so, how? If not, could it be now and what steps could you take?
4. When was the last time you talked to your mom? What do you need to tell her? If not a call, why not a personal note or if she has passed, write out a letter to her and file it? None of us are guaranteed tomorrow. If you have your mom today, don’t let another day pass without sharing your heart with her. Show honor whether your words are loving or potentially hurtful.
5. If you are a mom, what areas are your strengths? Weaknesses? What are some things you might do differently in the future?
6. PRAY: Thank God for His providential will in the assignment of your mom to you and you to your mom. Ask for healing, if needed, in your relationship with your mom/child. Ask the Lord to help you honor your mother!
