It was an ordinary day in the wilderness...

And yet on this ordinary day, God came to Moses to let him know that despite his sinful flaws, he was going to use Moses in a great way to have an impact on two entire nations of people - Israel and Egypt. He came to Moses by way of a rather insignificant instrument - that instrument being of course a BUSH that was on fire.
On fire, but not being consumed? Huh?

And according to the text above, the fiery presence of God never consumed the bush, which God used to catch Moses’ attention as a way to communicate with him the reality of His never-ending power. Moses could be confident God would set him ablaze with a fire to carry out that which God was about to call him to, and that he would never run out of fuel.
God identified Himself to Moses

What He wanted Moses to know by identifying Himself in this way, is that as a holy God, he could separate Moses from the brokenness of sin in his life, the 1st degree murder of another man, and in turn make Moses usable to himself once again. This identity that God communicates to Moses must have once again, been both an encouragement and confidence builder to Moses, especially in light of the calling he was about to receive.

God conveyed to Moses that He was holy, covenant-keeping God.
