"I am the Resurrection and the Life" Sermon Questions
1. How did the Spirit strengthen your soul through the sermon or sermon text?
2. What was the most challenging aspect for you regarding Jesus' interactions with Lazarus, Mary, and Martha? What made it challenging?
3. Read Ezekiel 37:1-14. How can knowing that this passage points to Jesus' life and work shape our day-to-day lives?
4. What does Jesus' response in John 11:33-35 teach us about real masculinity and humanity? How does that differ from our culture's view of humanity and masculinity? How does Jesus' response differ from the common response of American Christians?
5. Describe a time when, like Martha and Mary, you cried out to Jesus for help and felt he was non-responsive.
6. Describe some ways that people in our culture try to deal with the fear of death apart from Jesus (e.g., "Diet culture is just another way of dealing with the fear of death." ~ Michelle Addison).
7. What should we takeaway from Jesus' differing responses to Martha and Mary who were both navigating the same situation? While Jesus' manner and message didn't change, his method did. How should this shape our approach to one-on-one ministry with other Christians and our evangelism with non-believers?
