We look at our __________ and evaluate God in light of them, when we should be looking at God and evaluating our circumstances in light of who He is.
We rebels cry out in our _____. We put God on trial. But God in his perfect righteousness has accepted even greater punishment than we in our blasphemous judgment dare demand. “In all their affliction he was afflicted,” writes the prophet, “and the angel of his presence saved them. In his love and in his pity, he redeemed them” (Isaiah 63:9).

_______________ don’t always know if we are telling them the truth. It takes the Holy Spirit to know God’s Word, and without the Spirit they cannot know the truth about Jesus Christ. What they do know is whether we love them, really love them. Sometimes what turns people away from Christ is not his gospel but our failure to live by its love.

Christ’s ____________ brings us together and the fruit of that sacrifice is a meal in the presence of God. We don’t get plagues and miraculous signs every week because they were just the means. What we get is their goal: a meal in the presence of God to which the nations are invited.
